GLYCEMIC INDEX STUDIES

Unless you are living with Diabetes, the Glycemic Index (GI) is something that many do not understand.

Not many food companies have their products GI tested and therefore customers have no idea about the GI rating when consuming their products.  Most people do not even understand how important it is.

The GI ranking relates to carbohydrates in foods and how they affect blood glucose levels.  GI is an important tool for guiding food choices for people and many diets on the market are now based on the glycemic index.

Foods with GI levels of 55 or under (Low GI foods) are digested, absorbed and metabolised more slowly, which means a that blood sugars don’t rise as fast.  This is very important for people who are overweight and living with chronic illnesses.

Here at Herman Brot GI is one of our 3 main nutritional numbers and it appears front and centre on all of our products.

All of our products are tested in Australia by a leading University using scientific methodology: ISO 26642:2010 and If a product does not have a Low GI rating, it will not be included in our range.
